TAINAN, Taiwan — The U-12 United States National Team remained undefeated in the 2015 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup, scoring a 10-2 victory over Venezuela at Tainan Stadium to begin second-round Super Group action on Thursday.

At the 2013 U-12 Baseball World Cup, Venezuela was the only nation to put a dent in the U.S.’s armor, winning a 3-2 Opening Round contest against the U.S. squad.

The defending U-12 World Champions quickly struck for six runs on Thursday to prevent an upstaging by Venezuela.

The U.S. improved to 3-0 in the Super Round, adding to the two wins carried over by beating fellow Super Group nations Nicaragua and Japan.

U.S. starter Nicholas Kurtz pitcher contained the Venezuelan National Team, limiting the potent offense to two hits and a walk during his 3.2 scoreless innings of work.

U.S.’s Jack Ryan was involved in half of his team’s 10 runs, scoring three runs and drove in two more.

With the loss, Venezuela drops to 0-3 in the Super Group standings and sees its world championship hopes come to an end.

On Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Tainan Stadium, it will be a rematch of the 2013 U-12 Baseball World Cup finale, as the United States and Chinese Taipei meet.

The top two nations in the Super Group will compete for the U-12 World Championship on Sunday, 2 August at 18:30.

Earlier Thursday, the U-12 Nicaraguan National Team defeated the Cuban National squad, 4-0.

In total, 50 games are being staged in Tainan for the III WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup.
